The Fight For Justice & Equality: antiracist and educational resources to help form a better world.
Disgust, anger, sadness, heartache and disbelief; these are just some of the emotions felt over the past couple of weeks by many. Whilst it seems social media is returning somewhat to the usual content, we want to make sure that people aren’t forgetting what brought all of America, and the whole world, together.
On the 25th May 2020 George Floyd, a 46-year-old black man, was murdered after a white police officer, knelt on his neck for almost nine minutes. This unnecessary and brutal attack has shook the world and has left many people wondering what they can do to help in the ongoing fight to eradicate systematic racism and fight for justice.
The world needs change and although I feel helpless I know that I am not, I am privileged enough to be able to educate myself on racism and not experience it. Everyone can do better, learn more, speak more, listen more. Sign and share those petitions, donate if you’re financially able. Call out racism if you see it or hear it and stand up for what is right. Do not let this be a phase. Racism is a topic that needs to be spoken about. White privilege is a topic that needs to be spoken about. Police brutality is a topic that needs to be spoken about. Without using our words and acknowledging that the world needs change, we won’t ever get it. Educating yourself is key!
With all this in mind, to help anyone that wants to better educate themselves but doesn’t know where to start, we’ve compiled a list of resources, petitions, podcasts, donation pages and Netflix programmes which are a good start and have helped us in our first steps to being more aware and pro-active. We want to use our voices at The Wild and let our black brothers and sisters know that while we may never understand, united we stand. We are a community and we support you.
We will add to this list as we continue to come across new, important material. Please feel free to let us know of any resources you have come across so we can educate ourselves further and add to our list below.
